A Return to Civilization ....

Yesterday, it finally happened --- we got another xbox. :)

There was a time, my friends, when we had two of the glorious little contraptions under one roof, but they were subsequently parted into two domiciles, and then one was sold (egad!). Then, somewhere between 6 and 9 months ago, the only one we had left gave up the ghost. A great wail of lamentation arose - which I'm sure was heard far and wide.

We didn't get another one immediately. It seemed silly to buy something, set it up, and have it distract you from your packing duties, when you're just going to have to unplug it, pack it up, and haul it half way across the world. So we planned to get a new one when we got here - that was 4 months ago.

But yesterday morning my dad found one super-cheap (it's just the original xbox, nothing 360 about it) on craigslist, complete with 9 games, located right here in town. He sprinted over to the bank, got the dinero, and came home with two bags worth of heaven.

Ah, the bliss of mindless virtual killing sprees! ;)

Between the xbox (and my new membership at NumbThumb), my precious Netflix movies, and the telenovela we've gotten hooked on ("Maria Isabel, Si Tu Supieras" - it's ten years old, but it plays on one of the local channels here) I don't know if I'll ever blog again. Ok, that's a joke - of course I will blog again, but don't expect it to be impressive, LOL

Actually I intend, over the course of the next few days, to try to catch up on blogging about all the movies I watched during February. Not sure yet if I'm going to back-date them into February or not - but if I do and they trail off the page a bit, you can always find them in the archive listing of 'movies I've blogged about'.

PS, I also found this great widget thingy that will show your list of Netflix movies you have at home. It's also hidden in my movie archive if you want to look at mine - or just go HERE to get your own. It's really cute!

Yep, both of them do.

My dad's currently enjoying a game called FAR CRY (one of the nine that came with the console), I'm enjoying THE GODFATHER, and my mom loves to play HALO (the best game ever made IMHO).

In the next couple days I should be getting my first rented games from NumbThumb - a Splinter Cell game (luvs me the Tom Clancy based games), and a game based on the movie JAWS where you get to be the shark (luvs me the sharks).

PS> I've been into video games for as long as I can remember. Nerdy, I know, but what can I say? I loved Pong when I was a kid - it was so cool, and then Pole Position and Pacman at the arcade :)

Did you ever play that one where you launched someone out of a cannon and then caught 'em with a bucket.....CANNONBALL...it was called cannonball.

And to think...I just got my first xbox...oh well, at least it's modded.

b. - no, I don't remeber ever playing a game like that, it sounds fun though.

practical - ah, but now that you have one - now the addiction will begin ;) Before each new time-waster horizen in my past (the vcr, cable tv, etc.,) I couldn't imagine the need for said item, but after getting whatever the particular item was, I couldn't imagine life without it. It's a gateway thing I gues :)
