Apologies and Explanations

As more than a few of you have e-mailed me to mention - I have indeed been MIA lately. For this I apologize profusely. I have been super obnoxiously busy lately, and yet I'm still not fully unpacked (the sight of opened and half empty boxes mock me daily).

My computer was set up in the living room to provide internet to all while other computers were set up, and while my "office" was put in order. The location of my computer means that things like concentration and privacy are non-existent. The TV is always on, and at least once conversation is always being had (over and above the TV volume), not to mention the chorus of dog barking that erupts frequently without warning. Headaches are the order of the day - as are distractions. The time I have carved out to get on the computer lately has been completely devoted to working on my event videography website, new flyers, ordering a new cellphone, and new business cards.

I took the slightly bigger bedroom that comes with what they like to call "his and hers" closets (one regular sliding door closet and one smallish walk-in closet). The purpose of this was to be able to have a closet for my clothes, and use the walk-in as my office. In the walk-in there is a step under the area where the clothes are supposed to hang, and 18 inch wide step, so I went on a hunt to find an 18 inch wide desk. The Gods were smiling on me because after looking high and low in high and low end establishments I found a perfectly sized specimen at a local Goodwill. It was worn and ugly brown wood, with a white top that was evocative of a kitchen counter top from 1978 (complete with crayon art), but it was the right size, and only $15!!

I found a can of lovely glossy red paint left in the garage, and I had a ton of reproduction vintage stickers (old advertising posters, travel stickers, etc.). So for absolutely no extra money I completely revamped my ugly new desk. I painted everything red except the top, which I covered with the stickers (I put the last one on last night before bed). I need to get a little polyurethane or something to seal the top of it, but let me just say - it looks GREAT (if I do say so myself). I will provide a pic asap, so we can all bask in the glow of my thrifty domestic genius ;)

Anyway, now that the office is almost in order I can move my computer up there this weekend, print out my flyers and start scouting locations to post them, and get back to normal. Hopefully that normalcy will begin to include regular blogging :)

I totally understand what you are saying in your post today and see no need for apologies or explanations. I do look forward to returning to read morel.

Welcome back! Hope you are settling in OK. The desk sounds incredible and I am looking forward to seeing a picture of it. Moving is hard, so being MIA was a given really! But, glad to hear you are settling in just fine.
