I'm sure I will regret posting this -- I'm sure all of you will greet me with a wailing and a gnashing of teeth as well. But I have the excuse of being drunk with sleep deprivation (it's now 5.30am on a Tuesday, and I have yet to hit the hay). For some insane reason I feel the urge to foist one of my atrocious poems on y'all (see, I have been south of the Mason-Dixon too long!). Women and pregnant children -- no, wait -- pregnant children and women? -- uh, how 'bout pregnant women and children (?) -- yeah that's more like it -- a heck -- EVERYBODY, avert your eyes!!

The Secret Sisterhood

Of all we have lost
And all we have known
Everything has a cost
Someone must atone

Of all we believe
And all that we find
We try to get free
Forever entwined

Don’t really know why
They were so blind
Feeling the sky
And stars misaligned

Of all we once feared
And all we survived
Into the soul it was seared
An air of love deprived

Of all we have done
And all we could not share
Quietly whispered to each one
The sisterhood is laid bare.

I hate to admit this, but I don't understand poems. I realize that shows some huge character flaw in me, but its the truth.
I hope you were able to get some shuteye.

Yes, I eventually slept ok, and don't worry about the poem thing -- if we all liked the same things we'd be intolerably BORING. Besides, my poems are an aquired taste -- one that no one has yet aquired, LOL:)
